Colchester, VTAs Sheryl Sandberg famously quoted Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt, “If you're offered a seat on a rocket ship, don't ask what seat. Just get on!”  Embraced by DealerPolicy CEO Travis Fitzgerald, the quote hails as a call-to-action for Vermonters to become part of the company’s booming growth.

Fitzgerald, who comes from a strong automotive sales background courtesy of the family business, recognized the essential role insurance plays in automotive transactions – everyone needs insurance, and proof of insurance is required to complete an auto purchase in many cases.  In 2015,together with Jeff Mongeon – a former Colchester High School classmate and Vice President of Winooski Insurance – the pair combined expertise and the concept of DealerPolicy was born.   The company’s revolutionary technology enables car-buying customers the opportunity to purchase insurance by connecting them with licensed insurance agents while at the dealership or after they arrive home with their new car.  DealerPolicy has grown in just three years from 14 employees to over 100.  Already outgrowing their current space in Colchester, the company is actively seeking a larger building to fulfill the next phase of growth, and expects to exceed 600 employees in the next five years.

DealerPolicy and Vermont HITEC, a not-for-profit education center with nearly 20 years of workforce development experience, continue working to grow DealerPolicy right at home in Vermont.  Launching its 8th no-cost train-to-hire program, applications for an accelerated 8-week training are being accepted through March 10th.  The training program leads to guaranteed full-time jobs with DealerPolicy as licensed Client Advisors upon successful completion.  The next cohort will begin class on April 1st, with employment beginning May 28th.  In order to meet growth projections, Vermont HITEC and DealerPolicy will increase the program offering in Spring 2019 to begin every 6 weeks with a rolling admissions process.

All participants completing the training program are full-time employees as Client Advisors, enrolled in a Registered Apprenticeship, and earn a starting annualized base salary of $31,000 plus commission.  Performance-based wage increases brings base salary up to $35,000 through the first year. Commission is uncapped and provides on average an additional $16,000-$20,000 per year. Combined salary and commission can exceed $50,000 per year.

No prior industry knowledge or experience is required to apply, but candidates are required to have a High School diploma or GED. Client Advisors are valued members of the team at DealerPolicy, communicating with customers through technology to evaluate insurance needs and advise on coverage options. No cold-calling or travel required.  Trainees will prepare for and take the Producer’s Property and Casualty Insurance Exam, and be licensed with the state of Vermont as an Insurance Producer prior to graduation.  A grant of $4,800 per student is available to support living expenses during the 8-week training.
